The American Cocker Spaniel is charming dog with a cheerful personality. They can grow up to an average height of 15 ½ inches (Males) or 14 ½ inches (Females). Their average weight can range from 15 - 30 pounds (Males & Females).
Being of medium size the Cocker Spaniels charm lays in its silky fine coat with light feathering around the chest, ears, legs and tummy areas. The color of the coat can be of any solid color with or without tan points.
This delightful puppy can be an amusing companion with an average intelligence and energetic playfulness. Devoted to its family the Cocker Spaniel can be trained well and is found to be sociable with non-canine pets. This dog is however, rather difficult to house break, and should not be left alone in a kennel. It requires companionship as well as daily exercise, but unlike big dogs, a small yard or indoor workouts are adequate.
As with all dogs, this puppy needs to learn that the owner is the leader. Without proper training in this, the Cocker Spaniel can grow up to be shy or aggressive. Without proper exercise the dog could also develop hyperactivity and can wonder off on its own.
