Kittens are adorable little balls of fur that tend to be very playful and energetic. However, once they are grown, cats can be independent and intelligent pets that work to a routine of their own. Cats also prefer to think that they are the dominant ones in the household and will demand food, attention or even space according to its needs.
Although there is no successful method to train a cat, one can at least minimize the risk of having their furniture shredded, by installing a scratching post in the house. This can also be minimized by having their claws.
While some cats tend to be sociable and love attention, there are others who prefer space and a lone time. However, sociable or loner, they will keep meowing, rubbing against your legs and following you around till you give them your undivided attention.
Being independent creatures, cats make surprisingly good companions, who always seem to know when you need them.
It is recommended to spray and neuter the cat if taken in as a house pet as it helps keep your pet healthier, happier and calmer. However, cats must never be made to stay in cages over a long period of time and must be given the freedom to roam freely.
