What is a Westiepoo dog?

Also known as a Wee-poo or a Westiedoodle, a Westiepoo is a hybrid dog that’s a cross between a West Highland White Terrier and a Poodle. This designer dog is an F1 dog from the F1 generation. This is where two purebred dogs mate and their offspring become the first generation of said mixture.

How long do Westiepoos live?

The Westiepoo lifespan can range anywhere from 12 to 15 years.

Do Westiepoos shed?

Westiepoo dogs are considered to be a low-shedding breed. This stems from their parents. One, the Poodle, barely sheds, and the other, the West Highland White Terrier, only sheds a little bit.

Are Westiepoos hypoallergenic?

Because they don’t shed often, Westiepoos qualify as hypoallergenic dogs. This is a good breed for those individuals who suffer from dander-related allergies.

How big do Westiepoos get?

Westiepoo puppies can weigh anywhere from 20 pounds up to 35 pounds and can grow anywhere in the range of 11 to 17 inches tall (at the shoulder). Their West Highland White Terrier parent is a small-sized dog, whereas their Poodle parent comes in three different sizes. These include the standard, miniature, and toy Poodle. Oftentimes, when mating with a Westie, it’s paired off with a Toy or Miniature Poodle, but you can’t rule out a Standard Poodle, yet it’s not the norm. A Westiepoo falls under the small-to-medium size category of dogs, and can also come in as a Toy or Miniature Westiepoo, and even as a Teacup Westiepoo.

When are Westiepoos full grown?

A Westiepoo puppy reaches its full grown Westiepoo body somewhere in the range of 8 months old and their first birthday.

Are Westiepoos good dogs?

The Westiepoo dog is very loving, loyal, and affectionate. He makes a wonderful companion because he gets along with just about everyone, including older children. Because of having a hunting background, Westiepoos aren’t suitable for younger children because they might react to any sudden movements or roughhousing, which a young child might unknowingly do.

Do Westiepoos bark a lot?

Westiepoo dogs are average barkers. They will alert you if a stranger is approaching, so they make a decent watchdog. They also bark at various noises and movements. If they bark excessively, this is usually because they’re suffering from separation anxiety.

Are Westiepoos smart?

Westiepoos are very intelligent dogs. They are the offspring of a West Highland White Terrier who ranks #47, and a Poodle who ranks #2 on the smartest dog list.

Are Westiepoos easy to train?

Yes and no. Being intelligent, a Westiepoo dog picks up things fairly quickly and does well with obedience, but he does have a stubborn streak that can make training difficult. It’s best if your dog receives positive reinforcement throughout all training practices.

Are Westiepoos aggressive?

The Westiepoo isn’t typically an aggressive dog breed, but they will react and be wary of any strangers. It’s essential to their well-being and their disposition that they’re socialized and properly trained from puppyhood.

How much exercise does a Westiepoo need?

It’s important that your Westiepoo dog gets at least 30 to 45 minutes of exercise per day.

How much to feed a Westiepoo?

You should always consult with your veterinarian as to what’s the best diet for your Westiepoo puppy. Westiepoo adults should be having high-quality, grain-free, dry dog food 2 to 3 times a day, and consume anywhere from 1.5 to 2 cups.
